كتب مؤسس حزب سبعة جاد داغر على صفحته على فيسبوك: مسلسل توقيف بشارة الأسمر بسبب نكتة قذرة وصل الى درجة خطيرة ! يجب المطالبة بإطلاق الرجل فورا ليس محبة به ولكن خوفا على امننا الشخصي الذي اصبح مهددا من قبل الدولة نفسها. هذه رسالة من الميليشيات التي تحكمنا، مفادها ان ادانة وسجن اي شخص دون سبب وجيه موضوع بسيط وان المرء قد يترك للنسيان ولن يسأل عنه احد. سكوت الناس خطير جدا وسيعتبر جواب للسلطة مفاده: افعلوا ما شئتم، الدنيا سايبة والمواطن لقمة سائغة. لا تهمني الشعبوية ولا يهمني اذا هذا الموقف موضوع حسّاس اجتماعيا. على المرء ان يتحلّى بالشجاعة الاجتماعية. انا لست في السياسة لاتقبّل هذه المهزلة وادعو كل من يدّعي حماية حقوق الانسان ان يرفع الصوت.

Our silence will be a message to the establishment saying: do whatever you please and we will remain silent. I dont care if this is not a populist position. Yes the insulted late Patriarch was a respected clergyman, but I am not into politics to remain silent about such an outrageous situation. One needs to have social courage and i call upon all those who claim defending human rights to raise their voice immediately.
